Korean American Democrat of Virginia Endorse Brian
March 31st, 2009
The Korean American Democrat of Virginia organization endorsed Brian Moran for Governor. The Korean American Democrats of Virginia have worked to mobilize the Korean American communities in Northern Virginia to vote and to participate in the state and federal electoral processes. They cited Brian’s long-time efforts to fight for minority communities and to expand opportunities.
“Brian Moran has been a consistent figure within the Virginia community and has always had an open-door attitude with Korean Americans and other minority communities,” Michael Kimm, President of KADVA, said.
He continued, “Specifically, his plans to expand opportunities for small, women- and minority-owned businesses, and increasing their opportunity to partner with the Commonwealth are very critical to a lot of Korean American-owned small businesses. Brian has visited our churches, listened to our challenges and supported our cultural opinions. Hence, he is our choice to be the Democratic candidate for Governor.”

Holding out for the promise of a cure
March 30th, 2009
Brian Moran believes that stem cell research has the potential to cure incurable diseases and give hope to millions of Americans. In the legislature, he consistently fought against Republican attempts to ban stem cell research at our public colleges and universities. His Healthy Virginia plan calls for increasing research into the life saving cures from stem cell research. Brian knows, first-hand, what it means to have a family member struggle with an illness like this and he's committed to protecting it as Governor. In the house, Brian introduced legislation to protect Stem Cell Research at our colleges and universities.

Appomattox Democratic Leaders Line Up Behind Brian Moran
March 30th, 2009
Key Democratic leaders in Appomattox County announced their support of Brian Moran for Governor today. Brian received the endorsements of Appomattox Democratic Committee Chair Frank Poynter and First Vice-Chair Ora McCoy. They highlighted his long record of fighting for the people of Virginia and his plans for economic development and job creation. On Sunday, Brian received the endorsement of Stafford Democratic Committee Chairman Marc Broklawski.
“Brian Moran always fights for people, no matter where in Virginia they live,” Poynter said. “He’s worked with local Democrats across the commonwealth to build our party, elect Democrats and move the Warner-Kaine agenda forward. I know he’ll look out for every region because he shares our values and our commitment to working people.”
Brian has put forward bold plans as part of his “Economic Recovery Tour” that will jumpstart our economy and create jobs within small businesses. He’s proposed a health care plan that insures every child and expands health care in rural Virginia. Moran is the only candidate opposed to offshore drilling.
“Local Democrats need someone like Brian Moran in the Governor’s office,” McCoy said. “My early commitment to his campaign is steadfast. From raising the minimum wage to protecting the environment, he is fighting the good fight for all our important issues. Now we will fight for him.”

As Brian so eloquently states on the stump, "Public service is not about the politicians, but is about the people we are fighting for."
As the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, he has been on the front lines in the battle to increase the minimum wage and to create an earned income tax credit for Virginia's families; secure the largest investment in public education in Virginia's history; and protect our children from Internet sex predators through passage of Alicia's Law.
There is no one else I would rather have fighting for Virginia than Brain Moran.

Building Businesses like Campaigns, Bottom Up
March 26th, 2009
At a small business on Richmond’s Northside, Brian announced his economic stimulus and recovery plans for Virginia, as part of his “Economic Recovery Tour.” He laid out a comprehensive economic stimulus and recovery plan that focuses on growing small businesses, creating local jobs and investing directly in hard-working people. The recovery tour began Friday in Charlottesville and included stops in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia.
“People are struggling today, and they need us to take real action to fix our economy,” Brian said. “We’re going to grow this economy from the bottom up, not the top down. It’s time we started investing in Main Street, not just Wall Street, and help our small businesses create jobs.”
More about the plan below the fold.

Statement on Offshore Drilling
March 24th, 2009
Brian Moran made the following statement today on the 20th anniversary of the Exxon Valdez oil spill on March 24, 1989. This was one of the largest spills in U.S. history and one of our largest ecological disasters. At a minimum, the tanker spilled 10.8 million gallons of crude oil. Brian Moran is the only candidate for Governor to oppose drilling off Virginia’s coast.
“Twenty years ago the Exxon Valdez spill caused untold ecological damage and environmental harm. On a day like today we must consider the important environmental treasures here in Virginia. There is no stronger reminder of why we need alternative energy solutions, like offshore wind, rather than offshore drilling. We can’t solve our 21st century energy challenges with 19th century fossil fuels.”

I want to invite you to Brian Moran’s new online organizing platform: Organize Virginia.
http://organize.brianmoran.com
I hope you will join me in using this cutting edge tool to make sure that Brian Moran has the widespread grassroots support he will need to become Virginia’s next Governor. Primary elections are about people not money. They are about volunteers dialing at phone banks, not candidates dialing for dollars. Organize Virginia is the perfect tool to get more Democrats around the state involved in our campaign, but Brian needs your help to make it work. Read the rest of this entry
