Brian on Obama's First 100 Days
April 29th, 2009
Brian made the following statement about the first 100 days of President Obama’s administration.Brian campaigned for President Obama across the Commonwealth in 2008 and attended the Democratic National Convention in Denver. He has received the endorsement of Black Women United for Obama, a national network of African-American Women. Students for Moran is hosting a Salute to President Obama’s first 100 days this evening.
“President Barack Obama’s first hundred days have been a testament to the type of leadership Virginia and America needs: A steady hand in times of crisis and an honest voice in the face of a broken politics. I was proud to campaign for President Obama and help rally Virginia to his side.
The last 100 days have proven that elections matters. President Obama has successfully changed the direction of our country, managed the national security crisis, passed a sweeping economic recovery package to put people back to work, and changed Washington into a place that works for people.
This election was a milestone for our nation and proved, once again, that everyone can put their hands to the arc of history and ‘bend it toward the hope of a brighter day.’ Americans want a progressive vision with hope and optimism and a leader to put them first, and that’s what they have with President Obama. After 100 days in office, I think we can successfully say ‘Yes We Did!’”

Falls Church Leaders Back Brian
April 7th, 2009
Nearly every elected Democrat in the City of Falls Church jointly announced their support of Brian Moran to be the next Governor of Virginia today. The officials are endorsing Brian because they believe Virginia needs a governor who fights for people. Get Organizing
April 6th, 2009
As of today, the first 500 grassroots volunteers have signed up on Brian Moran’s new, innovative online organizing system, continuing to build momentum for the campaign. The system was launched less than 10 days ago to build an online platform where Virginia Democrats can organize to elect Brian Moran, similar to the my.BarackObama.com that was successfully used in the presidential election.
Brian Moran's organizing platform, organize.BrianMoran.com, allows volunteers to form networks among friends; organize through groups and events for canvassing, phone banking and other activities; and create personal fundraising pages. All of these activities build local organizations for the campaign.
If you haven't done so already join Organize Virginia today and become part of the next 500. More about the system after the jump.

Brian Proposes Bold Small, Women and Minority Business Reforms
April 1st, 2009
On the day that it was announced that Virginia reached a 17 year high unemployment rate at 6.4 percent, Brian Moran announced his plan to double state procurement for small, women and minority (SWaM) owned businesses during his term. To meet this ambitious goal, Brian proposes new incentives to help SWaM companies and lowering the barriers so more firms have access to state procurement. Brian continues to announce job-creating plans as part of his “Economic Recovery Tour” that started mid-March.
Virginia trails far behind in contracting opportunities for small, women- and minority-owned businesses. Out of all state spending, less than 2% went to women and minority owned businesses. For comparison, 17% of Maryland’s business is with women and minority contractors; 13% in Texas; 11% in Florida.
