Brian Moran believes that we are both a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants, and that we have to respect both. As governor, he would reach out to all Virginians to find common ground on this tough issue to ensure that Virginia is a respectful and welcoming Commonwealth for immigrants, and also that we are respectful of our laws. He plans to work with Senator Warner, Senator Webb, and our entire Congressional Delegation to forge comprehensive immigration reform at the federal level, which is what we really need to deal with this issue in an effective manner.
He believes that diversity is a strength, not a weakness. He supports investing ($1 million or more) into a New Virginian’s Initiative to help those legal permanent residents in Virginia who are eligible for citizenship.
He approaches this issue as the grandson of immigrants. His grandparents met on the boat on the way over to the United States in 1901. They arrived with nothing but the clothes on their backs and one suitcase and struggled to make it. Now they have one son in the United States Congress and the other running for the highest office in Virginia.
